The Urban Plants Conferences address the opportunities and challenges arising from plants in the city. These include the use of plants, their provision and production, weed issues, and invasive species, as well as transdisciplinary and social concerns.

The Working Group "Phytomedicine in Urban Green Spaces" of the German Phytomedical Society e.V. conducts its symposium series "Urban Plants Conferences (UPC)" in cooperation with the Julius Kühn Institute and other partners every two years.

The UPC aims to bring together research, initiatives, associations, municipalities, and interested citizens. The diverse uses of plants, along with their biological, technical, and socio-economic conditions, are at the center of these conferences.

The UPC support the implementation of the German government's "White Paper on Urban Green Spaces" and emphasize the importance of urban green spaces for public health and the resilience of cities.

The conferences are typically expert workshops, which can also take place on the sidelines of larger conferences. They are held nationally in German and internationally in English.

The symposium »Plant Protection and Plant Health International« (formerly known as "Plant Protection and Plant Health in Europe - PPPHE") is organised jointly  by the German Society for Plant Protection and Plant Health r.S. (DPG, www.phytomedizin.org) and the Julius Kühn-Institut (JKI, www.julius-kuehn.de). The symposium language is English.

Plant protection and plant health measures are most often regulated by EU regulation and directives or by national law. The symposium aims to discuss the scientific framework of regulations, standards and practices already in the developmental phase of new regulations in order to provide scientific advice to all interest holders involved in the process.

The German Workshop on Weed Biology and Control, traditionally held at the University of Stuttgart-Hohenheim, has been organized since 2012 by the Julius Kühn Institute (JKI), the Herbology Working Group of the German Phytomedical Society (DPG), and the Institute of Geoecology at the Technical University of Braunschweig. It serves as a platform for the exchange and discussion of new research findings and innovative methods in weed research.

For over 50 years the name "Reinhardsbrunn" has become famous in scientific circles for the Symposium series which draws together fungicide scientists from academia, research institutes and industry to present, listen to and discuss the latest research findings in this fast moving field.

Such research is a vital component in the quest to provide adequate control of the fungi that threaten the world's food supply and commodity products. Only by discovering new active molecules by synthetic chemistry or from natural sources and by understanding how they work and how best to use them, can we hope to maintain and improve the quality of life for the world's growing population.

The symposium is organised every third year by the German Society for Plant Protection and Plant Health r.S. together with the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg

The German Society for General and Applied Entomology (DGaaE e.V.) and the German Phytomedical Society (DPG e.V.) hold their symposium series "Insect Conferences" at irregular intervals. Specialists and interested parties from associations, research, industry, and authorities find a platform here for their topic-related exchange on biodiversity, monitoring, and measures for the protection of insects in agricultural landscapes and urban areas. The results of the conference are published in German on the conference website and a summary in English in the Journal for Plant Diseases and Protection.

The conference language is either German or English, depending on the topic and context.

With more than 1300 participants, the German Plant Protection Conference is the largest professional event for phytomedicine and plant protection in Europe, and its significance extends far beyond the borders of Germany. Among the participants from the fields of agriculture, forestry, horticulture, fruit and wine growing, and urban greenery are representatives of professional associations, public services at federal and state levels, as well as scientists from domestic and foreign universities, research institutions, and industrial companies. The conference serves as a significant forum for the exchange of new scientific insights and practical experiences in all areas of phytomedicine.

The conference language is German.

The German Plant Protection Conference takes place every two years in a different federal state and is organized by the Julius Kühn Institute. Since 1971, the DPG has been cooperating with the JKI, currently financing the German Plant Protection Conference and supporting the Julius Kühn Institute and the plant protection services of the federal states in organizing the conference.

The recognition of the conference as further training for professional competence is regularly applied for.

jointly organize the "Resistance Conference" in Fulda every two years.

This traditional conference has been held in Germany since 1949, always at the beginning of December, in the Kolpinghaus hall in Fulda. It brings together experts and stakeholders from science and practice, universities and industry, research, and consultancy for lectures and discussions on current topics of disease control and resistance breeding in agricultural crops.

While the GPZ Working Group for Disease Control and Resistance Breeding began its conferences as early as 1954, members of the DPG initially participated only as guests. It wasn't until 1999 that a resistance conference was organized and conducted by members of both scientific societies. Building on the positive experiences from this event, discussions were subsequently held between the boards, leading to a cooperation agreement. In agreement with the Society for Plant Breeding e.V., on January 9, 2003, the board of the DPG passed a resolution to establish a coordination group for the participation of DPG members in the biennial conference of the GPZ Working Group for Disease Control and Resistance Breeding in Fulda. "This coordination group should maintain close contact with the plant breeders to help shape the conference program and encourage DPG members to actively or passively participate in the conference." The inaugural meeting of the coordination group, including introductory presentations, took place on May 9, 2003, at KWS SAAT AG in Einbeck. The resistance conference of 1999 is therefore considered by the DPG as the starting point for the longstanding and fruitful collaboration between the professional societies, which continues to this day.

In addition to long-standing series of conferences, the DPG supports conferences in which members significantly contribute organizationally. Our services range from providing a website to taking over the entire conference organization.
