Welcome to the youngDPG!

On these pages we would like to introduce you to the youngDPG and give you an overview of what makes us special and what role we play in the DPG.

The youngDPG consists primarily of members who are in training and are preparing for a career in crop protection. It is represented on the board by two elected board members who act as the spokespersons of the youngDPG.

The youngDPG can include Bachelor's students, Master's students, doctoral students, postdocs and young professionals. The maximum age of members of the youngDPG is based on the maximum age for the Julius Kühn Prize (40 years).

Members of the youngDPG are NOT associated with a specific membership fee: they are ordinary members with a membership fee of currently €80. However, if they are still in training, the membership fee can be reduced on application. All further details are regulated by the General Terms and Conditions of the DPG.

Note: Reductions in admission prices to DPG events are also NOT linked to membership of the young DPG, but to the contribution category "ordinary member in training" and "ordinary member with reduced contribution".

Study crop protection

The prerequisite for studying crop protection is usually a general higher education entrance qualification. In principle, you can also study without an "Abitur", e.g. subject-related with appropriate vocational training and subsequent professional experience. As there are different regulations for each federal state, it is worth finding out more.

Crop protection is taught at universities and universities of applied sciences. In addition to the study locations listed here, there may also be other courses on offer, so it is worth checking whether there are any courses in the field of crop protection at your chosen study location.

Once you have found a suitable institution, you should make use of the institution's student advisory service, as admission eligibility must be clarified in all cases.
