The next meeting of the Herbology Working Group is scheduled for August 31, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. as an online meeting.
The availability of soil-applied active ingredients for controlling weeds in cereal crops in the fall is severely limited by the loss of the active ingredient flufenacet. Alternative active ingredient mixtures and potentially new active ingredients carry an increased risk of reduced crop selectivity. During the online meeting, field trial experiences with flufenacet-free herbicide formulations from recent years will be shared and discussed. Our goal: to develop a coordinated, joint recommendation for the practical application of flufenacet-free herbicide combinations with a focus on achieving the best possible crop tolerance.
The meeting will be held in German
- Biology and ecology of weeds, integrated weed control, and related topics
- Scientific information exchange about all topics related to herbology
- Building networks not only with herbologists, but with colleagues of adjacent disciplines as well (like ecologists, geobotanists, vegetation specialist, conservationists, etc.)
- Hosting conferences beyond working group meetings (like the German Conference on Weed Biology and Weed Control, www.unkrauttagung.de)
- Excursions and fieldtrips to deepen special knowledge
- Herbicide resistance
- “New” weed species (neophyte invasive weeds, poisonous weeds, perennial weeds, previous known weeds with re-growing relevance)
- Weed mapping (occurrence and growing of weeds)
- Cultivation systems and weed infestation / integrated weed control
- Population and dispersions-dynamics / weed-ecology
- Biodiversity
- Weed control and environment
Cooperationpartners
Since 2012, the working group, together with the Julius Kühn-Institute Braunschweig and the Technische Universität Braunschweig, has been organizing and co-hosting the German Conference on Weed Biology and Weed Control ("Unkrauttagung").
