Bodies of the association
General Assembly
The General Assembly is the highest body of the DPG. It is responsible for:
- accepting the activity report of the 1st chairman and the cash report of the treasurer
- to approve the actions of the executive board after the results of the financial audit have been announced
- taking note of the rules of procedure of the executive board
- the election of two ordinary members as financial auditors
- setting the membership fees
- discussing and passing resolutions on statutes of the DPG
- discussing the dissolution of the association
The general assembly is convened by the executive board in writing at least every two years. The meeting must also be convened if this is requested by at least 5% of the ordinary members.
A duly convened general assembly is always quorate and decisions are made by a simple majority of the votes of the ordinary and honorary members present.
The resolutions of the general assembly must be recorded in the minutes. These are public.
Executive Board
The executive board discusses and decides on all measures to realize the objectives of the association, insofar as this is not reserved for the general assembly.
The three chairpersons are the executive board within the meaning of Section 26 of the German Civil Code (BGB) and each has sole power of representation. They represent the company internally and externally and chair the meetings of the executive board and the general assembly.
The executive board draws up rules of procedure on the basis of the statutes, which set out the allocation of tasks.
The managing director may be assigned all tasks of the members of the executive board and the representation of the association within the framework of the applicable rules of procedure and his employment contract by the chairmen.

Election Committee
The election committee is regularly appointed by the executive board to conduct the executive board and federal state spokesperson elections in the year before the next election. The next elections for the executive board and federal state spokespersons will take place in 2026.
Federal state spokespersons
Active in the federal states
The members of a federal state can elect a state spokesperson and their deputy. The state spokespersons represent the interests of the association within the states in accordance with the guidelines of the executive board. They act as intermediaries between the members in their federal states and the executive board. They can organize meetings and events at regional level. The deputies of the country spokespersons support them in their work and represent them on their behalf.
No federal state spokespersons have been proposed and elected in recent years.
Working group leaders
The executive board can form working groups to promote scientific work in sub-areas of phytomedicine. It is responsible for setting priorities, appointing or dissolving them.
The leaders of the working groups and their representatives are appointed by the executive board for a period of up to two years when a new working group is established or a position becomes vacant until it is consolidated.
The heads of the working groups report regularly to the executive board.
Within the working groups, working group leaders and the executive board can set up or dissolve project groups by mutual agreement and fill the project group leader positions. Project groups should work on specific issues.
